Alicia Moreno
Alicia Moreno represents the embodiment of dedication, cultural heritage, and community service through her remarkable 13-year journey in Taekwondo and commitment to serving special needs students. Her story exemplifies how family legacy and personal passion can converge to create meaningful impact in the lives of others.
Alicia’s martial arts journey began at age three, rooted in a rich family tradition established by her mother’s years of practice. When her family relocated to the United States, this tradition continued at Morristown Taekwondo Club under the mentorship of her uncle, Master Yeison De Los Santos. The encouragement and challenges provided by both her mother and Master De Los Santos have been instrumental in her development as both a martial artist and leader.
Her sustained commitment to Taekwondo over more than a decade stems from the discipline’s tight-knit community and the profound life lessons it provides. Beyond self-defense techniques, Taekwondo has instilled in Alicia essential values of commitment, self-worth, and self-discipline—qualities that have become the foundation for her success across all areas of life. Alicia’s dedication to serving special needs students through both dance and Taekwondo instruction has been transformational for both her students and herself. This work has challenged her to step outside her comfort zone, pushing her personal and professional limits while developing her natural leadership abilities. Through these experiences, she has cultivated enhanced patience and learned the critical importance of incremental progress and individualized instruction. Her work with special needs students has evolved from an initial introduction through Dance Outreach into a passionate calling that provides her with deep fulfillment and purpose. The knowledge that she is making a positive difference in these students’ lives drives her continued commitment to this meaningful work.
As a junior at Randolph High School, Alicia demonstrates exceptional leadership across multiple domains. Her upcoming role as President of the Spanish Honor Society reflects both her academic excellence and her peers’ confidence in her leadership abilities. As an executive board member of the Student Council, she actively contributes to school governance and student advocacy. Alicia’s involvement with Dance Outreach—the organization that first connected her with special needs students—showcases her commitment to service-oriented activities that align with her values. Her participation in spring track demonstrates her athletic versatility and commitment to physical excellence beyond martial arts.
Alicia’s ability to maintain year-round Taekwondo training while excelling academically and contributing significantly to multiple extracurricular activities demonstrates exceptional time management and dedication. Her multicultural background, combined with her leadership in the Spanish Honor Society, positions her as a bridge-builder who can connect diverse communities.
Through her integration of family tradition, personal passion, and community service, Alicia exemplifies how individual growth and community contribution can work in harmony. Her continued dedication to both martial arts excellence and special needs advocacy promises continued positive impact in whatever path she chooses to pursue.
